What GOTS actually stands for
GOTS stands for the Global Organic Textile Standard. It's widely considered the gold standard for organic textiles — not just because of what the fabric is made from, but because of how it's made at every stage of production.
To earn GOTS certification, a textile has to meet strict criteria covering the entire supply chain: the farming of the raw cotton, the processing, the dyeing, the finishing, and even the packaging. Every step is independently audited.
Why it matters more than "organic" on its own
Here's the thing most brands don't tell you: the word "organic" on a clothing label means almost nothing on its own. Without certification, there's no way to verify the claim.
Cotton that's labelled organic but not GOTS certified could still have been processed using harmful chemicals — bleaches, dyes, finishing agents — that sit against your baby's skin all day long.
